Conviction vs. cult

There's a line every great community coin walks, and knowing which side you're standing on is trench survival at the highest level. Conviction is loving the community, enjoying the memes, believing the culture has staying power — while still owning your own decisions. A cult is when belief itself becomes the strategy: "we're all going to make it IF everyone holds," "selling is betraying the family," "the only way is believing." The moment faith in a price becomes a loyalty test, you're not in a community anymore. You're in someone's exit plan wearing a community's clothes.

The tell is what happens to questions. Healthy communities can laugh at themselves, take profit out loud, and welcome "what's the liquidity look like?" without calling it FUD. Cults treat every question as an attack, every seller as a traitor, and every dip as a test of faith. The academy's whole scam-radar module is built on this: pressure to never sell plus punishment for doubting is the same social machinery every rug uses on its way out. It doesn't stop being that machinery when it's aimed at a coin you happen to love.

Sunk cost is the trap door: the longer you've held and the more you're down, the more "keep believing" feels like the only move that doesn't admit a mistake. That feeling is not information — it's the cost of the ticket talking. So bullpost because the memes are funny. Rep the cat because the culture is yours. And keep the one freedom no community is entitled to take: your own read, your own size, your own exit. That's conviction. Anything that demands you surrender those three is a cult, whatever ticker it flies.
